I took this one in [info]secretsquire  and [info]seanoconner 's back yard. Their house is a very convenient color for a background. This particular one is the jpg straight from my K10D. The image tone is set to bright and +1 brightness. I actually like it better than the RAW image I developed after I printed the two side by side. For inquiring minds it was shot at 1/90 of a second, ISO100, F11 using a Tamron 70-300mm Macro set to 240mm.

Hope it is a great day. And that the cats didn't disturb you too much before I got up and fed them. ;)

D and I went to Woodland Park Zoo today. The weather started a little dicey, but it turned into a pretty nice day.

Here's one shot:

 Here are the rest: www.flickr.com/photos/simonfencer/sets/72157616320201280/

Each time I go I wish for a 400-500mm lens or something a bit shorter in F2.8

We're getting Verizon's FIOS package hooked up today (Speed Channel in HD!!!) so I took the day off work. Woke up sans alarm at my usual time though.

Oh well, I guess I won't miss any of my day off that way.

Flying not Driving. And for some reason that makes everything feel more exciting...I love seeing all my friends from far away at events but they are all people I would hang out with if the SCA didn't exist, and lately I haven't really gotten a whole lot from the "SCA" side of the coin. This weekend feels different though. I actually know Vik & Inga, and while they will likely be busier than long tailed cats in a room full of rocking chairs, seeing them crowned makes the event more significant. Plus this QRC is the first that I'm not worried about where I will find the strength or energy to warm up and fight in it. Physically, I haven't been fitter or stronger in probably 20 years. I know physically Sunday will not be an issue, September Crown proved that, a solid hour of fighting there left me hungry (well, starving) but not tired or sore. (Sunday I will get up at 6 and have a solid 1000 Calories for breakfast so running out of gas will not be even the tiniest of concerns).
My SKB rolling bag (essentially a golf bag) is 14 lbs under the weight limit, I thought it was going to be really tight, but 36lbs is all it weighs. Amazing what a difference removing a mask tester and leatherman will do (that was 3.5 lbs right there). I even managed to get my big boots in.

I'm just off to pack the other suitcase now, but I should be fine there too, I'm even bring running shoes and workout clothes.

Hopefully I see lots of people from the North end there this weekend, but be safe getting there.

Got our tickets...

Now to figure out what I actually need to bring...my fencing bag will definitely need emptying, I am sure there is a bunch of stuff in it I won't need to bring.

I guess i won't be bringing the usual case of wine, but I am pretty sure they sell alcohol in Oregon.
