Flying not Driving. And for some reason that makes everything feel more exciting...I love seeing all my friends from far away at events but they are all people I would hang out with if the SCA didn't exist, and lately I haven't really gotten a whole lot from the "SCA" side of the coin. This weekend feels different though. I actually know Vik & Inga, and while they will likely be busier than long tailed cats in a room full of rocking chairs, seeing them crowned makes the event more significant. Plus this QRC is the first that I'm not worried about where I will find the strength or energy to warm up and fight in it. Physically, I haven't been fitter or stronger in probably 20 years. I know physically Sunday will not be an issue, September Crown proved that, a solid hour of fighting there left me hungry (well, starving) but not tired or sore. (Sunday I will get up at 6 and have a solid 1000 Calories for breakfast so running out of gas will not be even the tiniest of concerns). My SKB rolling bag (essentially a golf bag) is 14 lbs under the weight limit, I thought it was going to be really tight, but 36lbs is all it weighs. Amazing what a difference removing a mask tester and leatherman will do (that was 3.5 lbs right there). I even managed to get my big boots in. I'm just off to pack the other suitcase now, but I should be fine there too, I'm even bring running shoes and workout clothes. Hopefully I see lots of people from the North end there this weekend, but be safe getting there. Tags: 12th night Current Location: home office Current Mood: busy Current Music: nothing...
